The Greatest Headlines Ever Written.

Headlines are the most imortant feature of any advertisement. Experts suggest spending at least 80% of your time on the headline and the other 20% on the rest of the ad.
Before writing an advertisement, sales letter, promotional piece, radio or TV ad (the first words you say in the ad are your headline), read each entry and ask yourself if this headline can be converted to my product or service. Some of them will jump out at you and others will take a little thought.
As an example, two old and very successful headlines in the “100 Greatest” list are:
“Profits That Lie Hidden in Your Farm”
“Discover the Fortune that Lies Hidden in Your Salary”
I modified these headlines for one of my companies, Monster Diamond, a diamond saw blade manufacturer:
“Discover the Fortune that Lie Hidden in Your Saw”
This headline pulled 55% greater response than “Buy Your Next Diamond Saw Blades Directly from the Manufacturer.” Both headlines carried the same exact ad copy.
THAT’S how powerful these headlines can be. My clients pay me hundreds or even thousands of dollars to write advertisements for them and the first thing I do is consult these lists. They are the “secret weapon” in my marketing arsenal.
Expect to spend a couple of hours at least browsing through these lists while devising your headline. It will be time well spent.
