Communication is a Foundational Element of Life – MM

by Dr. Matthew Norton

Communication is a foundational element of life, growth, and all relationships, and yet it is so minimally understood and frequently poorly executed. Communication is the act of making something known or common to others. It requires both “sending” AND “receiving” components.

Neurons transmit intelligent information from one area of the body to another. They carry specific targeted messages involved in perception, integration, and responsive action. However, en route to their final destinations, the messages must jump across synaptic canyons via neurochemical transmitters to effect changes at adjacent nerves.

If the gaps aren’t bridged, critical information for ongoing adaptation and health will be missed.

Just as information must flow unimpeded within a person for optimum well-being it must also be freely and clearly communicated between people to develop and maintain close connections, to facilitate advancement of knowledge, and also for us to assist each other in the meeting of our many needs.

Just as people need to remain free of subluxation blockages to express their full potential, all of our interpersonal communications must reach the hearts and minds of our audience without distortion so we can have maximal influence as merchants of hope and agents of change.

While we must stand and deliver; our audience must also hear and understand.

Recall a time when you believed you had communicated a message clearly to a friend or family member only to realize later that something was missed in the translation. You wonder how confusion could have resulted because it seemed so obvious to you.

How many times over the last 29 years have I thought I clearly explained to a patient their condition, needs, and my solution, to learn later that they missed it completely?

Because of the confidence I’ve developed, I’ve often considered my interaction with potential patients to have been nearly genius in insight and clarity, only to find them unmoved. Clearly I’m not responsible for their eventual choices, but I am responsible for the quality of my message communication.

In other words, the thought or idea didn’t land in the same way it was launched.

These experiences have led me to study communication, the science of influence and persuasion, public speaking, sales strategies, inspiration, etc. and then to repeatedly practice their application. I was determined to improve for my sake but also for all those people in need of a clear message without me getting in the way.

What message do you have to share with the world around you? What is your unique contribution? What needs do you see for which you have powerful solutions?

I am absolutely convinced that the message you’ve been entrusted with at this critical juncture in human history is revolutionary and more essential now than ever before–possibly much more so than you really know yet.

You hold within your brain and hands truths and actions that can help carry a fragmented and suffering people to a desperately needed place of wholeness. They need to hear your voice! Your potential impact on society and the planet is immeasurable.

Great energy and clarity of thought will be necessary to solve not only our vast health challenges but other global dilemmas. We can help facilitate progress toward much needed solutions through helping the people around us perform at a higher level.

Read Dr. Candace Pert’s classic book Molecules of Emotion for further understanding in this area. My book Where Does It Hurt? also reveals research and numerous insights on the benefits across all levels of our being when improving our spinal-neurological framework.

The Synaptic Success website, Mindfluence Method Training Program and the Business of Life Expert Interview Series were all created because after 29 years of expressing my passion and skills as a practicing chiropractor as well as teaching and speaking with countless colleagues and other professionals, I’m convinced that we can all benefit from becoming more effective communicators of our important messages.

However, unlike some issues that we may be less able to change, this is one that we do have the ability to turn around. In fact, the ball is in our hands and we simply need to step up and shoot. We need to clarify and fine-tune our unique and powerful messages and then practice our delivery of those life-transforming messages to our public that waits in need.

We are committed to consistently bringing you fresh thoughts, ideas, and strategies in the area of message development and clarity (as well as inspiration for you and your patients/clients), while you receive marketing, media, and business assistance through our multimedia format.

Thank you for joining us in this exciting and purpose-filled mission to upgrade the lives of people.
